The Office of Financial Aid Administrationutilizes Self-Service to provide Manhattan College students with a secure system to manage their student accounts online. Begin by logging on toSelf-Serviceyou can complete the nessersary steps to Accept your Finanial Aid Awards and take the next step to enrolling at Manhattan College.

Financial Aid Checklist

  • File a FAFSA

    You must file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered for need-based financial aid from Manhattan College.

    • Your correctsocial security numbermust be on file with your FAFSA. If you do not provide this information, we will not be able to process your FAFSA.
    • You must provide ourschool code: 002758in order for Manhattan College to receive your information.
    • The FAFSA must be signed with FSA ID's by both you and your parent in order to be processed.

  • Accept Your Financial Aid Award

    Incoming Students

    New Manhattan College students who were offered federal, state, and/or institutional aid received a hard copy award letter with their acceptance letter. Students will then be instructed to review and respond to this award letter electronically via their account in Self Service.

    Continuing Students

    Current Manhattan College students will not receive paper award letters after their first year enrolled at Manhattan College. Instead, eligible students will receive a JasperNet email notification in late May/early June, when the award letters are available for viewing on Self Service.

    Did you know: Your first-year enrollment deposit is deducted from your first semester bill.

    • How to Accept Your Awards
      1. Go toSelf-Service
      2. Log in with yourJaspernet username and password.
        1. If you do not have a Jasper login click, “If you have lost your ID or password, please visit start.manhattan.edu to retrieve it.” Click activate and use the information provided in your orientation packet to obtain a login.
      3. After logging in, click on the “Financial Aid” tab.
      4. Select the “Financial Planning Checklist” link.
      5. Click on the “Review and Respond to your Award Letter” tab to:
        1. Review your financial aid information and offers for the current aid year.
        2. Accept/decline your aid offers.

  • Requests for Documents and Additional Information

    At times, we may need further documentation or action by a student. Notification is sent to a student's JasperNet email address for additional information, but students may also log on to Self-Service to determine the needed items:

    • Visit manhattan.edu/checklist (a student must be logged into their Jaspernet account to see this page)
    • See 'Special Messages' to view any requests

    FAFSA Verification

    Students who are selected forFAFSA verificationare notified annually by the Financial Aid Administration office via JasperNet email and a letter mailed to the student's permanent address on file.

    Detailed instructions are also available to selected students by logging on to Self-Service > Follow-up & Current Award Status.

  • Student Employment

    Students seeking federal work study (FWS) or campus employment (CE) must meet all the general eligibility requirements for Title IV financial aid programs and continue to show demonstrated financial need.Read more about student employment.

    Paperwork Requirements

    In addition to the basic federal requirements, a student must:

    • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the annual deadline (April 1).
    • Confirm eligibility by processing an official ACCEPT or DECLINE of the FWS or CE offer on Self-Service. In August, eligible, interested students will be emailed instructions on how to complete the necessary paperwork and online confidentiality agreement.

    • When will I receive my Financial Aid packet?

      Admitted students can expect to receive a financialaid offer by the third week of February.

    • What if I need more financial aid?

    • How are student workers paid?

      A common misconception about Federal Work Student or Campus Employment funding is that these funds decrease tuitionor come off the direct tuition bill. In fact, each student worker is paid twice a month through a direct deposit to their personal bank account or they can choose to pick up a paper check from the Manhattan College Controllersoffice, located on the bottom floor of Miguel Hall. This money can be used for indirect college expenses like books, supplies, or social activities.

    • What jobs are offered to student workers?

      Work study jobs include campus tour guides, financial aid receptionists, athletics stat keepers, academic tutors, career services assistants, library aids, and much more. Working on campus is an excellent way to make new friends, network with professionals, and gain valuable career experience.

    • Do I need to file for FAFSA every year?

      Yes, new and returning students arerequired to file the FAFSA each year they areenrolled as a Manhattan College student.

    • Do I need to file for FAFSA to qualify for merit scholarships?

      No, merit-based scholarships are determinedby each student's high school GPA and standardized test scores (NOTE: We are a test-optional institution).

    • Can I apply for more scholarships as a returning student?

    • What are indirect costs?

      Books, supplies, travel miles, tolls, gas, etc. These are every day expenses that will not appear on your direct Manhattan College bill.
